This free screening is part of the 6th Annual MO Humanities Roots & Routes of the Ozarks: People and Pathways Symposium. After the film, hear from riders featured in the film, along with the president of the Missouri Trail of Tears Association, as we discuss the Remember the Removal Bike Ride, forced removal, and the Trail of Tears.

The symposium is presented in partnership with Missouri State University Libraries – Ozarks Studies Institute, History Museum on the Square, Springfield-Greene County Library District, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and Ozarks Alive with support from Hotel Vandivort and Moxie Cinema. Missouri Humanities’ 6th Annual Humanities Symposium, “Roots & Routes of the Ozarks: People & Pathways” will center around the movement of people into, out of, and within the Ozarks—examining how both chosen and forced migration and how historical changes in transportation continue to inhabit and shape the region.

The sessions are FREE and open to the public. To register and learn more about our keynote presenter Candacy Taylor, cultural documentarian and author of the bestselling book, "Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America," and our individual Saturday sessions, visit: mohumanities.org/symposium-2023/
